Study Reveals Surprising Link Between Age and Hapiness

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/12/age-and-happiness_n_4773484.html

This is an article I read about the relationship between age and happiness. Are people less happy or more happy the older they get?  If you answered more happy, then you were right, based on a study published two years ago. It found that people generally become happier and experience less worry after the age of fifty.

In fact, it found that by the age of eighty-five people are happier with their life than they were at eighteen. The findings came from a Gallup Survey of more than three hundred forty thousand adults in the United States in two thousand eight.  At that time, the people were between the ages of eighteen and eighty-five. But the people least likely to report feeling negative emotions were those in their seventies and eighties. The survey also found that men and women have similar emotional patterns as they grow older.I think this is partly true.

However, women at all ages reported more sadness, stress and worry than men did. So why would happiness increase with age? One theory is that as people get older, they become more thankful for what they have and have better control of their emotions. They also spend less time thinking about bad experiences. The findings appeared in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. What do you think? At what age do you believe people are happiest?

  1. Yes you mind be right sometime,as people grow older they tends to be happy. But not to everybody that it occur to because some might not feel happy due to sickness. Women are more stress than men, and yes older people spend less time thinking of bad experiences.

  2. This is interesting! However i don't think everyone gets happier as they grow old. Some are happy when they are younger because they spend their time partying and having fun and when they are old, they end up with regrets. Also younger people are healthier and stronger but older ones are prone to terminal diseases which may cause sadness.
